Whos Got His Eye on the Cox
Whobegotyou has proven he will be almost impossible to beat in next month's Cox Plate, with a resounding victory in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley on the weekend. The Mark Kavanagh-trained star broke an 11 month winning drought, claiming his first race since the Aami Vase last October.

With top jockey Damian Oliver on board, Whobegotyou's explosive finish was too powerful for up-and-comer Mic Mac, who kicked strongly but was still run down by more than a length. Singapore mare Jolie's Shinju set a very fast pace, and held on for third. All three horses lead the Cox Plate betting but Whobegotyou at $3.30 is a clear favourite.

Zarita showed she will be a serious contender for the Cox Plate too, winning the Stocks Stakes by the smallest of margins from Cats Whisker. The $3.50 favourite looked beat but charged late to sneak home in a photo finish to claim the Group 2 race.

In the Mitty McEwen Stakes, sprinter Nicconi gave David Hayes an impressive victory, with a strong first up win which puts him in good shape for the Manikato Stakes. Nicconi beat Morgan Dollar by a length, with Secret Flyer coming from the back to run third.

At Rosehill, three Group races put out some eye catching performances, as the Sydney horses gave us a preview of how they are travelling this Spring. Hot Danish was perhaps the most impressive, winning the Research Stakes by half a length, despite carrying 61kg and travelling 3 wide without cover from the start. She held off fast-finishing favourite Madame Pedrille, and will likely head to Melbourne for the rest of her Spring campaign.

In the Theo Marks, old timer Racing To Win found his form of old, winning the Group 2 event by almost 2 lengths and breaking a 13 month losing streak. The super grey (who is looking more whiter by the day) came from near the back of the field to defeat Rock Kingdom and Triple Honour making up the places.

Ready To Lift beat favourite Voice Coach by a short head in the Kingston Town Stakes and will head to the Metropolitan with the Melbourne Cup also on the cards.
