Nine-year old galloper Fields Of Omagh has created Cox Plate history by becoming
the oldest horse to win the premier WFA event. It was one of the most exciting Australian races in recent memory,
with the sentimental favourite edging out El Segundo and Pompeii Ruler in a photo finish.

US import Tawqeet has given trainer David Hayes his second Caulfield Cup victory by flashing home to win
the $2.5 million race in front of a huge crowd at Caulfield. Tawqeet was ridden beautifully by
jockey Dwayne Dunn, who settled the horse midfield before accelerating past Aqua D'Amore who finished
second.

Legendary trainer Bart Cummings has made it back to back Caufield Guineas wins after 3yo colt Wonderful World proved too good
for its rivals on Saturday. It gave Cummings a record 5th Caufield Guineas and also provided
jockey Luke Nolen with his maiden Group 1 victory.

Lee Freedman trained gelding Sphenophyta has shot to Caufield Cup favouritism after winning the Turnball Stakes
at Flemington on the weekend. Ridden by Danny Nikolic, Sphenophyta was taken to the lead
before the home turn, and held on to win in the straight ahead of another
Freedman horse, Our Smoking Joe.

Flemington, generally speaking, is Melbourne’s truest and fairest
racecourse. Its features include a 537 metre straight and long, sweeping
bend leading into the straight. The 1400 metre start is perhaps the most
crucial, with respect to barriers. As the majority of that trip coincides
with the sweeping bend, outside barriers can be disastrous, forcing
horses to cover much extra ground.
