Interest For Another Dato Tan

Last year’s winner Rekindled Interest heads an exciting assembly of horses set to contest Saturday’s $305,000 Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes on Sportingbet Cox Plate Preview Day at Moonee Valley.

Other notable runners include the reigning ATC Derby winner Ethiopia, current Caulfield Cup favourite Green Moon and the Italian import Sneak a Peek for Peter Moody.

The Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes will give punters a great guide to the Sportingbet Cox Plate, held in October, with all but one of the runners in Cox Plate contention. The last horse to win the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes and Cox Plate double was El Segundo in 2007 and before that, it was Northerly (2001) and Sunline (2000).

Also on the card at Moonee Valley is the Group 2 Top Cut Stocks Stakes (1600m) featuring 2010 winner Avienus and high class mares Spirit Song, Never Forget and Midnight Martini.

Saturday racing at the Valley also boasts the Group 3 Mitty’s McEwen Stakes with a likely clash between Jason Warren’s exciting Bel Sprinter and Peter Moody’s Golden Archer.

Gates open at 10.50am with the first race to jump at 12.20pm and the final race of an eight race program at 5.00pm.

There is limited dining available in the Dining Boxes for a three course a la carte lunch for $130  or in the Inner Circle Dining Room for a three course carvery for only $59.  Call 1300 79 79 59 for bookings.

Moonee Valley’s next race meeting is the Jeep Night Racing Season Launch on AFL Grand Final Eve, Friday 28 September featuring the Group 2 Spotless Moir Stakes, the Group 2 City Jeep Stutt Stakes, the Group 3 JRA Cup, and the Group 3 TBV/Gallagher Bassett Champagne Stakes.
